DOG GROOMING QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
If you’re a new client, then you may have a few questions about how the grooming process works. Please take a few minutes to look through some frequently asked questions below. If you don’t find the answer to a specific question, please feel free to contact me.
A. We recommend they come in two weeks after their last set of vaccinations. It is very important to have your puppy groomed as soon as possible so they can get used to and learn to love the grooming experience. During their first visit your puppy will be introduced to the sights, sounds and smells of the grooming salon ensuring that future visits remain as stress free as possible. The amount of work that I can do on the puppy’s first groom, is decided by the puppy’s reactions to the grooming process. It is far more important that the process is a happy one.
A. Yes, we have lots of private and secure parking.
A. The time taken will depend on the condition and length of your dog’s hair, and its ease or difficulty to groom. I will either contact you prior to the end of the treatment to advise what time you should pick up your pooch, or we can arrange a mutually agreeable time for you to return to collect your dog before the groom. I appreciate that our secluded location can make drop off and pick up times difficult to work within your day, so we offer up to 2 additional hours of dog care free of charge. Additional hours of care are charged at £5 per hour.
A. Pricing is based on the breed, hair length, temperament, and grooming history. If your dog comes into our salon with matted fur, there will be additional charges due to the extra time needed to groom. Please read our price list for more specific prices.
A. If you collect your dog at the agreed time, then your dog can relax in our house if there is any spare time between the groom and collection. If you are late to collect then your dog will be crated in a spacious, clean cage with fresh water and bedding.
A. We offer a chargeable doggy day care service and pick up and drop off service so if you are unable to collect your pooch after their treatment we can add them to the day care.
A. It is not recommended to groom a dog that is close to whelping. However, a sanitary clip with a teat clip at least 3 weeks before the due date should be fine.
A. As your dog loves you very much they will wiggle and move around trying to get close to you which is not safe while we are grooming. It is best to drop off your pooch at their scheduled appointment time, and then come back when the groom is finished. We are very happy to show our customers around the grooming room so they can see where their pooch will have their groom.
A. Before your pet comes to us we strongly recommend they have a chance to relieve themselves. They may want to have a meal beforehand, but keep in mind if your pet is nervous, they might do better with an empty stomach. Feel free to bring along any special blankets, toys, or treats that you know your dog loves. Also, it you have a preference please feel free to bring a photo of the type of haircut you would like.
A. The length and type of your dog’s coat will determine how often your dog needs to be groomed. How much brushing and de-matting that you do in between grooms will also make a significant difference. It is recommended that your dog is rebooked for an appointment that is 6-8 weeks away. Please note that if you do not rebook an appointment for your dog straight away, then you may not be able to get a space when he/she is due.
A. Your dog’s nails should be trimmed monthly. You do not need a pre-booked appointment, but we do recommend you call or text before you come to ensure that the salon is open.
A. All dogs regardless of age benefit from being groomed. However aged, disabled, and ill pets required specialist treatment during the grooming process. I am experienced in working with deaf, blind, arthritic dogs, and those with diabetes, epilepsy, cruciate ligament problems, pregnancy and more. If you have any doubt, please consult your vet who will help you to decide whether there would be any adverse risk in grooming your older dog.
A. Yes, we offer a discount for multiple dogs.
A. Keeping a dog calm during the grooming process is just one of the requirements of a groomer. I understand that some dogs make have had a terrible experience of grooming and now do not want or enjoy being groomed. This is one of the areas that I specialise in, as through patience, massage techniques, aromatherapy, the right equipment, and time I am confident that I can make the grooming experience as stress free as possible. It is very rare to find an un-groomable dog but if we come across any serious problems during a groom then we will discuss them with you so we can agree on a solution together.
A. If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with the groom, then please advise within 2 business days so I can do my best to rectify it. Owners satisfaction is important to me and I take great pride in my service and want you as the owner to as well.
A. We accept cash, Debit cards. MasterCard, and Visa. Online transfers are permissible if the amount is settled in full within 24 hours.
